René Stembert website "This is already a very old family from Belgium and from the places Verviers, Limbourg and Baelen. There used to be a village Stembert near Verviers (nowadays this village is included in the suburbs of Verviers). However, we have not been able to make a connection between the name of this town and our name."
The Stemberts were drapery manufacturers in Limbourg between about 1700 and 1900. They sold the sheets to clothiers in Holland, among others.

My ancestor who added the extra T to the name Clignett officially.

When I was married to Frederik (Erik) de Jonge, I had a dream about a man who looked like my ancestor. I didn't know much about my family at that time. He was dressed in white with golden stitching at the edges of his costume. He was hiding behind a fallen tree trunk and had a 16th century pistol. He was defending himself, and I believe he was killed. That's how ancestors contact their offspring, through i.e. dreams. When I first saw this picture in 2016, I knew the man I dreamed off was my ancestor.
My ex father in-law told me they are a noble family. I finally found their genealogy and they are not of noble descent.
All Clignett's that are not my direct family have this coat of arms. The rings of my family, who were stolen by the Clignett's branch 2 all have a rose with 4 petals.

don't know anything about the family. Eugène Clignett claims to be named after Eugènie Clignett, who was married to my granduncle. I wanna bet, that their daughter, tante muis, does not even know Eugène Clignett's family. She most likely only knows my uncle Bob and aunt Kitty. My father never wanted any contact with the Clignett's. The rumor is that my father is not a real Clignett (like my grandmother would have an affair) She divorced my grandfather while she was pregnant with my father before the war. My father looks more like my grandfather and like our ancestors than his brother Bob, my uncle Bob looks more like my grandmother's family (van der Zeep). Most Clignett's marry multiple times, my father never did and my grandmother either.
Fred Clignett uses my coat of arms which I sent to his brother Henri Clignett to make for a t-shirt.
